Social Anxiety- Melanie Green

Melanie Green –   Quals: B. Psych (Hons); Cert in Comm Services; AMAPS – Provisional Psychologist.

Social Anxiety: It’s natural to feel nervous before a social situation in which you will be under the attention of others such as giving a speech at a wedding or doing a presentation in front of your boss and colleagues. However, for people who suffer from social anxiety, everyday situations that involve interaction with others can lead to intense anxiety. They may fear being judged and evaluated which can lead to feelings of inadequacy, embarrassment, depression and avoidance of social situations.

Counselling approach: Melanie is passionate about helping clients to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. She utilises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques such as education, relaxation training, cognitive restructuring and exposure therapy to help clients change the unhelpful thoughts and behaviours contributing to their anxiety.
