Panic Disorder – Joey Tai

Joey Tai     Quals: BA Psych (hons), Master of Clinical Psychology.

Panic Disorder:  If you have panic attacks (such as feeling faint, nauseous or have difficulty breathing for no explainable reason), you would know that this condition can be very stressful and debilitating. Someone who has frequent panic attacks might not be able to enjoy their life as they avoid certain places, events or situations for fear of having a panic attack there and then.

Panic disorder can be symptomatic of deeper psychological and emotional difficulties within a person. Seeing a psychologist can not only help you to manage these panic attacks, but to address the underlying issues which are contributing to the disorder.

Counselling Approach: Joey adopts an open approach to dealing with panic disorder – he focuses on the whole psychological makeup of a person rather than just the external symptoms. This usually includes an exploration of some of the unconscious turmoil within the individual, and seeking to address and improve on these internal struggles. Joey utilises a range of different techniques and strategies to manage the panic disorder so that the individual is able to remain functional during the therapy process. Sessions with Joey are also relaxed and non-judgmental in nature.
