Couples Therapy – Tiegan Holtham

Couples therapy:   Intimate relationships can be the most rewarding and distressing relationships you will ever enter into! People often aren’t expecting the various ways behaviours and feelings toward their significant other can change over time. While change is normal, sometimes this can lead to relationships becoming conflictual, disjointed, unemotional and fractured. Feelings naturally fluctuate, but if they get out of balance, or become overly negative, it can become too distressing for the couple to manage on their own. Blame, jealousy, resentment, affairs, and losing intimacy can all have a devastating effect on long term relationships. Seeking support from a couples therapist is a positive and effective step to moving past hurt and anger, and re-experiencing the joy and fulfilment of your earlier relationship.

Counselling Approach:  Tiegan enjoys working with couples to rebuild their intimacy, love and enjoyment of one another. Tiegan uses a range of evidence based strategies with couples, including Gottman’s couples therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, skills training and compassion focused therapy. Tiegan works hard to ensure that neither member of the relationship feels blamed and acts as a neutral outsider to support both individuals to feel heard.
