Psychological Assessments – Susanne Gilmour

Susanne Gilmour     Quals: BA, Cert Teach, Grad Dip Social Science, Grad Dip Psych, MAPS.

Psychological Assessments: Psychologists can administer standardised assessments for personality, mental health status, abilities, career choices, learning disabilities and neurological impairments and many more, for people of all ages.

Counselling Approach: When conducting psychological assessments, Susanne Gilmour focuses particularly on assessing career aptitude, personality and, especially, cognitive ability, achievement, memory, executive functioning (ADHD), high-functioning autism (Asperger’s) and reciprocal social communication ability. The assessment and report with recommendations are especially useful for students experiencing difficulty with academic and social requirements in educational settings. Any diagnosis that attracts disability funding from government agencies will usually require input from other professionals as well. Testing for children usually takes 4-6 hours depending on their particular learning profile, but the report and recommendations generated from this assessment can be immensely helpful in improving learning outcomes and fairness in assessment conditions.

Psychological Assessments – Angela Bromfield

Angela Bromfield     Quals: B Sc (Hons Psych), B Ed (Primary), M Ed Psych.

Psychological Assessments: If your child is struggling with any area of learning, a cognitive and educational psychological assessment is an important first step in finding out how they learn, and to identify any areas of difficulty they are having. Once the psychological assessment has been done, an accurate profile of the child’s academic areas of strengths and weaknesses can be used to develop learning strategies and recommendations to support the student with their learning.

Counselling Approach: Angela is former primary teacher and now highly qualified psychologist, experienced in providing psychological assessments for children. She utilises a number of standardised tests such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scales (WPPSI-III and WISC-IV) and and the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT-II). Further assessments are also conducted as required, such as The Comprehensive Test of Phonlogical Processing (CTOPP-2) and Children’s Memory Scale (CMS).

  • Cognitive and Educational Assessment: $1800. This includes WISC-IV administration and analysis – $550, WIAT-II assessment and analysis – $550, each of which takes over 3 hours to administer and analyse results; CTOPP-2 administration and scoring – $150, and report – $550 (which is approximately 13 pages including child specific recommendations and takes 4-5 hours to write). Payment can be made in installments as the assessment is usually done over 2-3 sessions. Optional feedback session: $135 in clinic, or $180 to provide feedback at the school with parents and school staff.
  • Cognitive Assessment: $930.  This includes assessment and analysis (approx 3 hrs) – $550; and report fee – $380 (for a report consisting of approximately 10 pages including child specific recommendations, and takes 3-4 hours to write). Optional feedback session: $135 in clinic, or $180 to provide feedback at the school with parents and school staff.
