Child Attachment – Dr Rose Gillett

Dr Rose Gillett      Quals: B Psych (Hons), D Psych (Clin), MAPS

Child Attachment: Attachment difficulties in childhood can masquerade as behavioural issues or anxiety. Attachment difficulties can often be observed through oppositional behavior, tantrums, inability to soothe small children, as well as separation fears, fears of the dark, and seeking constant reassurance through “I love you/do you love me?” If a child is presenting with these concerns, you may find them unresponsive to traditional parenting programs or anxiety management and assessment for attachment should be considered.

Counselling Approach: Rose has extensive experience in assessment and treatment of attachment disorders, initially ensuring a solid understanding of the attachment relationship and identification of where attachment has been disrupted. Treatment then focuses on repairing these bonds through a family approach.
