Entrepreneurship – Vivian Jarrett

Vivian Jarrett    Quals: B Psych (hons), GCert Res Com, MAPS, MAICD

**Finalist Telstra Business Women’s Awards 2017 – Entrepreneur

Psychology of EntrepreneurshipI have completed postgraduate studies in entrepreneurship at UQ in 2016 in order to expand my base of consultancy work to help small to medium sized businesses work through the start up process. Start ups require significant time and energy and the biggest barriers can be lack of information about business, and limits around the amount of hours and money available to resource your dream business. I prefer the working model of business to employment as I enjoy working my own hours and dictating my own Vision for the future.  I value emotional health, creativity, social entrepreneurship and new ways to sustain our society through socially responsible business ventures. I enjoy fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship in my practice of psychology.

Counselling Approach: My approach is to foster creativity, work with current skills while developing new skills.  There is an art to expanding an entrepreneurial team, especially once you have reached the limits of your time, money and skills. Successful ventures depend on working within the window opportunity and often beating competitors to the market. Expanding too fast or too slow can be detrimental to your business. Often business owners are a couple and the demands of family and the business sharing the same space can become daunting.  Managing the family issues can be just as important as managing the business demands.

Relationship Counselling – Vivian Jarrett

Vivian Jarrett  Quals: B Psych (hons), GCert Res Com, MAPS, MAICD

**Finalist Telstra Business Women’s Awards 2017 – Entrepreneur

Relationship Counselling:  Relationships at home or work are the source of stress for most clients.  My preference is to work through issues by examining communication, conflict, social roles, confidence and life skills. Managing relationships effectively can lead to positive mental health and open opportunities for career development and general well-being.

Counselling Approach:  I enjoy working with interpersonal psychotherapy, solution focused strategies and occasionally narrative therapy. Most of my relationship counselling clients find that managing difficult relationships quickly reduces stress and improves mental health. Some clients will choose to negotiate relationships and others will end relationships and I support both options. Clients may attend by themselves or with their partner.
