Autism: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is defined as lifelong development disabilities characterised by marked difficulties in social interaction, impaired communication, restricted and repetitive interests and behaviours and sensory activities (Autism Spectrum Australia).  Even though ASD is a lifelong condition, social, communication and sensory difficulties may be remediated by methods of intervention therapy and structured support.

This may involve an Intelligence test (IQ test) and an adaptive functioning assessment which assesses the child’s daily functioning abilities. The diagnosis process can be guided by Cassandra, in function with the child’s GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist, the child’s school and with the family.   Following diagnosis, Cassandra utilises evidence based therapeutic methods that are proven to achieve positive outcomes.
