Anxiety Disorders – Melanie Green

Anxiety Disorders: Anxiety is a normal reaction to a stressful situation and is characterised by feelings of worry, nervousness or a sense of apprehension. Anxious feelings are often accompanied by physical sensations such as heart palpitations, nausea, muscle tension and shortness of breath. For some people, anxious thoughts, feelings or physical sensations can become so frequent and severe it interferes with their daily life. This is typically considered an anxiety disorder and is one of the most common mental conditions diagnosed in Australia.

Counselling approach: Melanie is passionate about helping clients to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. She utilises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques such as education, problem solving, cognitive restructuring, exposure therapy and relaxation to help clients change the unhelpful thoughts and behaviours contributing to their anxiety disorder.
