Addictions: Addictive behaviours are problematic if they are damaging an individual’s relationships, success at work or in life, and are starting to become uncontrollable. Often addictions start off harmlessly, but develop into something unstoppable. Most often, addictions cover the pain of something the addict is trying to avoid – such as shame, past trauma, negative emotions, numbness, or mental health concerns such as depression or anxiety.

Counselling Approach: It is incredibly difficult to manage addictions on your own. For many, rehabilitation centres offer a whole of life approach to treatment which are incredibly effective. If you are willing to learn to manage your addiction and reduce the harm caused to yourself and those around you, there are also effective outpatient therapeutic approaches. Tiegan meets clients where they are at, and can offer a mix of motivational interviewing, compassion focused therapy, harm minimisation, solution-focused therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy to support clients to get a handle on their addictive behaviour and take back control of their life.

Current Availability: Usually within one week. Appointments available Saturdays.
